Who We Are

The entire Wild Bird Rescue & Rehab (WBRR) family is deeply saddened by the passing of our founder, Debbie Strimple, May 24, 2020. Debbie co-founded Wild Bird in 1999, then known as Wild B.I.R.D (Bird Information and Rehabilitation of Denver), with the grit and tenacity and left a lasting impact on the landscape of wildlife rehabilitation in CO. Debbie was known throughout the state for her deep commitment to our wildlife and her vast knowledge of wild bird behavior. She rehabilitated thousands of injured, orphaned and ill wild birds, from hummingbirds to pelicans, until her retirement in 2014. Her teachings live through those she took under her wing, including WBRR rehabilitators/technicians Morgan Sandoval, Nabilla Zahir, and Kenyon Moon. May your paradise be filled with the songs of flight, Debbie. You are missed. Her family has requested that donations in Debbie's memory to be addressed to Wild Bird Rescue & Rehab in order to underscore her commitment to Colorado’s wildlife.
